Moms and dads cover a lot of bases, morning through night, and every day of the week.
Sometimes, in the process, we are so busy arranging transportation, paying bills, walking the dog and making sure everyone and everything is accounted for that we forget to really look at our family.
When we really look, in today’s screen-focused world, we might spot a lot of question marks when it comes to posture.
Whoops, there is your youngest flopped out on the floor, glued to his video game. Over in the corner your teen is ignoring everyone, completely dependent on the cell phone as the last real link to life.
Totally involved, your spouse may be slouched on the couch absorbing one more football game. You, on the other hand, may have to find another spot to catch the last season, latest episode of Downton Abbey.
But the point is everybody, except maybe the dog, is totally oblivious of posture.
This may work for some, for awhile, but in the long run almost everyone pays the price for bad posture.
Healthharvard.edu defines posture as the way you hold your body while standing, sitting, or performing tasks like lifting, bending, pulling, or reaching. If your posture is good, the bones of the spine, the vertebrae, are correctly aligned.
See Your Chiropractor for Answers
Having just come off of posture patrol, you might consider introducing your whole family to the chiropractor, spending a little time to see where everybody stands and what to do next.
Your chiropractor will use a full spinal adjustment using the diversified technique to check for subluxations, which are misalignments of the spine.
Subluxations are misalignments of one or more vertebrae in the spine and/or joints. When the misalignment is corrected it may have far reaching effects on back, neck and sciatica pain. It may also help with allergies, TMJ, arthritis, headaches and migraines.
The end result could be some very effective posture intervention to counteract all of those bad habits.
